Self Survey Guide
For quotation
purposes; accurate measurement
(manufacturing sizes) are not required. Simply measure the window
aperture from the inside of each room, taking the height between
the head and sill of the window or door and the width between
the side reveals. As long as given measurements are within 100mm
(4 inches) of the subsequent manufactured size, the price is
unaffected. Any more or less than this allowance will have a
small impact on the price.
Window and door style sheets should be used to take notes on
styles and sizes required per room location. These printable
sheets are available here.
For manufactured size purposes;
accurate measurement is required, including
gap allowance, as these sizes will be used to manufacture your
windows and doors. If you decide to take on the process of “self-survey”,
you will be responsible for any mis-measures and subsequent
additional costs. Regular “flat” windows and doors
are generally straightforward to measure and the following guide
is designed to assist you through this process. However, Bay
Window arrangements can be particularly difficult to survey.
Whilst we are happy to accept Self-Surveys for Bay Windows,
using the survey sheet print-outs, we
would encourage customers to take advantage of our low-cost
Pro-Survey service for all projects involving Bay Windows.
Additional Self-Survey assistance can
be found in the Technical Guide, which shows typical frame positions
to house walling, sub-sill, head and sealants.
Our service includes a professional survey service at the fixed
price of £100.00 including VAT, payable directly to our
nominated Surveyor. Our Surveyors are fully trained and we are
fully responsible for the accuracy and specification of the
survey, should you choose to use this service.
