Self-Fit
Guide
3.3
Installing Bay Window Assemblies Structural
or Load-Bearing Bay Windows require that individual window
segments DO NOT carry any loading.
Support must be achieved by the use of Jack Bay-Poles, which
are directly fitted between head and sill, avoiding any question
of frame support.
• All Bay Window assemblies are supplied with adjustable
jack bay-poles.
• Welded sub-sills are pre-drilled to accommodate the
insertion of jack bay-poles through sub-sill.

Sealing & DPC’s
• The purpose of external sealing is to prevent water
and air leakage into the property.
• The perimeter gap (see Deduction Differences) should
be no less than 5mm to allow for profile expansion and contraction.
• Appropriate sealant materials applied correctly take
account of movement between frame and external brick work.
For all supplied orders, appropriate sealant is included in
the supply pack.
• It is advisable to apply masking tape to the frame
and brick work to facilitate a clean ribbon line of sealant.
Subsequent tape removal reveals a neat finish.
• When sealing gaps between 6mm and 15mm, the use of
a backing material is required.
• Care must be taken to avoid the use of sealant in
lintel, sub-sill or face drainage channels.
