2.3 REMOVAL TECHNIQUES –
Bay Windows
Bay Window removal and installation requires
a high level of expertise and should not be left to the novice.
Many bay window arrangements are “structural” and
are “load-bearing”. In some cases, ceiling joists
are formed to the heads of bay windows, so identification of
correct removal techniques is critical to the success of the
installation and to the structural integrity of the property.
Many mistakes are common when removal bay windows and even so
–called “Professional Window Companies” fail
to recognise structural issues.
If you have any doubt, please use the services of our qualified
Surveyors to assess, specify and measure the job.
In addition to our experienced Surveyors, we can offer the services
of a resident Structural Engineer, to establish load calculations
and re-enforcement specifications, if required.

2. Internal acrow prop supports must be used with timber bracing
and placed under existing ceiling joists.
3. Remove sashes and all glass and frame work material as described

and reinstatement of these materials may be required.
